| Gleason expands into new crane and transport equipment. |
Melbourne-based Gleason Cranes Australia, well known as the pioneer importer of used cranes into Australia, is now starting to make news for new equipment.
The Gleason new equipment range comprises the Italian Ormig pick-and-carry cranes, TOA(R & B) mini crawler cranes and Cometto multi-axle heavy haulage trailers and self propelled modules.

The Ormig |
The Ormig is a pick-and-carry crane designed to spend its working life onsite, or be transported between projects. It is not road registrable.
The six model Ormig range starts at 10-tonne capacity and carries through to 60-tonne. Electric power is offered in cranes up to 45t capacity, and the 33t model also has a diesel-electric variant.
An Ormig benefit is the manoeuvrability they offer with their rigid chassis and a sharp steer angle producing a tight turning circle. All Ormig cranes, including the 60t unit, have a low head height, making them ideal for work inside buildings.
With their low entry height, the cabs provide easy access and convenience in applications that involve the operator regularly getting in and out of the cab.
The booms are relatively short by normal crane standards- even the 60t crane has a boom length and height under hook of 16.5m.
Compact design, operator convenience and excellent manoeuvrability well suit Ormig cranes to working around the clock in applications involving heavy lifts in the confined spaces commonly found in industrial plants, precast yards, and long-term civil and building construction projects.
Gleason Cranes have already experienced strong interest in these cranes, with three 16t units and two 20/25t units already sold to work on mine sites. The current delivery time is eight to ten months. |
TOA (R&B) mini crawler cranes |
TOA (R&B) mini crawler cranes were one of the first Japanese mini crawler cranes introduced to the Australia market. The range available from Gleason Cranes provides capacities from 1.7 tonne to 2.8 tonne. |
Cometto heavy lift trailers ....... |
Completing the crane range available from Gleason Cranes, are world leading Cometto heavy lift trailers, powered modular transporters and steerable heavy haulage trailers.
For the latter, each axle steers, allowing loads to be positioned close to cranes, so reducing the radius of a lift.
Options for the lighter trailers (30-100t) include extending trailers, with rear steering axles, and the choice of a full-width deck, spine or side beam, depending on the load.
The powered, modular trailers, are remotely controlled and can be configured to handle loads from 40t to 8000t.
These trailers suit applications where heavy loads are to be moved through an industrial site. The steering system allows the module to turn in its own length, providing the manoeuvrability to move a heavy, bulky load through a tight access area.
Top of the line is the true self-propelled modular transporter, with its own cab. This can be configured with up to 36 lines, with capacities from 80t to 1000t. |
